PDF: Taking Sustainability Mainstream - The Darden Report

Bundoran Farm was featured in the most recent issue of The Darden Report, the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business’ magazine.

The article, entitled “Taking Sustainability Mainstream” highlights our overall approach to developing the property in manner that is sustainable and preserves the use and character of the land. Joe Barnes, Bundoran Farm Development Partner and Darden Graduate, talks about how Bundoran Farm “allows for the best of both worlds. Landowners get to maximize their land value and people can live in an environmentally protected environment”

Also mentioned are Darden Professor Andrea Larson’s studies which show that companies committed to sustainable business practices tend to have a strategic and marketing advantage. Professor Larson talks about how it is antiquated to think “if you make something environmental responsible or socially responsible, it’s going to cost more”. In addition to being good stewards of the land, it is possible to create long term benefits for key stakeholders.
